Whether it's your first BLS class or your first time training with us, here's exactly what happens from the moment you register to the moment your eCard lands in your inbox. No surprises, and no wandering the parking lot looking for the right door.
Before class: register online
Every class is booked online, so your seat, payment, and paperwork are all in one place:
- Go to our class schedule and pick your course: classroom BLS, BLS renewal, or a HeartCode BLS skills session.
- Choose your date and time, then tap Register.
- Enter your name and email exactly as you want them on your eCard. The email you use is where your AHA eCard will be sent.
- Use a cell phone number that can receive texts. For weekend and after-hours classes, that's where your building code is sent.
- Agree to the terms, complete the secure checkout, and watch for your confirmation email.
We can't register you or take payment over the phone, but we're always happy to answer questions by text or call.
Need to change your date? Contact us before your class. BLS reschedules are $25, and all purchases are nonrefundable. Full details are in our terms and conditions.
What to bring and wear
- A photo ID.
- Your HeartCode completion certificate if you're coming in for a HeartCode BLS skills session. You'll need it before your skills test can start.
- Comfortable clothes. You'll kneel on the floor to practice compressions, so skip anything tight or restrictive.
- Your reading glasses, if you use them. The classroom course includes a short written exam.
All training and testing equipment is provided, including adult and infant manikins, AED trainers, and bag-mask devices.
Finding our classroom at The Atrium
We're in Suite 200 at 255 W Moana Ln, Reno, NV 89509. The building is called The Atrium, and you'll see the name on both its east and west entrances. Give yourself a few extra minutes the first time you come.

Parking
Park outside either the east or the west entrance of The Atrium. Both entrances get you to our classroom.
Getting into the building
During normal weekday business hours, the building is open, and you can use either entrance.
Weekend and after-hours classes
The building is locked on weekends and after normal business hours. About 20 minutes before class starts, your instructor texts a security code to the cell number you registered with. Enter it on the keypad outside the east or west entrance to The Atrium.
Didn't get your code, or it isn't working? Text or call (775) 235-2117. Please don't share the code with anyone who isn't in your class.

Getting to Suite 200
Suite 200 is on the second floor, on the west side of the building. As soon as you walk in either entrance, you'll see stairs right in front of you. Go straight up.
- From the west entrance: the stairs lead directly to our suite's front door.
- From the east entrance: at the top of the stairs, turn right. Follow the rail ahead of you around to the left to the other stairwell, where you'll find Suite 200.
Easiest route: park by the west entrance. Our door is right at the top of the stairs.
When to arrive
Plan to arrive 10 minutes before your start time so you can check in and class can start on time. Late arrivals are not always accepted and may be turned away, so it's your responsibility to be on time.
Coming to a weekend or after-hours class? Your building code arrives about 20 minutes before class, so you'll have it in hand when you pull in.
What happens in class
BLS is hands-on from the start. Your instructor demonstrates each skill, then you practice on adult and infant manikins with feedback on your compression depth and rate until it feels natural. You'll cover:
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- Using an AED
- Rescue breathing with a pocket mask and a bag-mask device
- Choking relief for adults, children, and infants
- Working as part of a two-rescuer and multi-rescuer team
Every class teaches the 2025 AHA Guidelines, including the newest infant compression technique and the updated choking steps.
How the skills tests and exam work
To earn your card, you'll pass two hands-on skills tests, plus a written exam in the classroom course:
- Adult CPR and AED skills test: you'll show high-quality compressions, breaths, and safe AED use on an adult manikin.
- Infant CPR skills test: you'll show infant compressions and breaths, alone and with a partner.
- Written exam: multiple choice, with a passing score of 84%. HeartCode students complete the exam online before their skills session.
The skills tests aren't designed to trip you up. If you need more practice on a skill, your instructor will coach you through it before you retest.
After class: your AHA eCard
Once you pass, your instructor issues your AHA BLS Provider eCard, and an email from eCards@heart.org usually arrives before you've left the classroom. Claim it from the link, complete the AHA's short survey, and you can download, print, or email it straight to your employer.
Your card is valid for two years, through the end of the month you took the class. Here's how to check your card anytime.
